| ZOLOTARY
BAY
If you’ve decided to go visit the Pacific, you’ll definitely
need the information below.
The place where your crazy fellow riders await for
you is Zolotary bay. Pretty
funny name, ah? Actually there is an official name of
this place – Cozino bay (not casino though!), but this
name is not that popular here. Zolotary is the one that
you want to remember. It is about 200 km from Vladivostok,
passed Nakhodka, and the place is very beautiful.

File with the GPS rout from Vladivostok to the party
place will be available for download here soon.

Navicom, Moscow based company, sponsored me with the
navigation gadget named "Garmin GPS V" that
can locate a point on the surface of our friendly planet
through satellites up in the space. Also it creates
the most efficient rout, stores information about passed
portion of the rout, warns about upcoming turns, informs
about gas stations, camp areas and has many more useful
features that can make your life on the road easier
(not recommended as a nutcracker though).
For those how are getting ready to start a trip and
think of the reliable navigation system – here is Novicom’s
number in Moscow: 916-27-44 and 917-90-71. Highly recommended!

Well, even if you don’t have this magic gadget, you
can still use a good old paper map to get here ?
In any case, with the word of mouth you can get far!
First you can ask locals – “Kak doyekhat’ do goroda
Nakhodka?” (How do I get to Nakhodka city?). Once in
Nakhodka, go right and start asking people “Kak doyekhat’
do Zolotarei?” (How do I get to Zolotary bay?). You
will reach this very bay in 10 km after you leave Nakhodka
city. Cannot miss the place ?
Here is our little bay!

A piece of advice.
If you are coming from the West part f our motherland,
you don’t have to come to Vladivostok first, it’s easier
to go straight to Nakhodka. If you are coming here from
Khabarovsk side, than it will be better for you to take
a left turn at Uglovaya towards Nakhodka. Although if
you do have time and good will, come over to Vladivostok!
We’ll be glad to see you here.
Another piece of advice…
Have a look at the map – see, there are two roads: red
and green. The red one (along the seashore) will easily
take to the party place, but the problem is that 10
km of this road are under construction – clouds of dust
and hundreds of bumps there.
And on the green rout (turn left after Partizansk, passed
Shkotovo) you will get:
1) a nice asphalted road
2) a great rolling hills landscapes along the way
3) a chance to tie your hanky on The Tree and make a
wish that will definitely came true (they say that the
spirit of Sikhote Alin comes out in this place)
4) to pass a proud little town named New Moscow (must
be interesting not only for Moscow people though)
This green road is 30 km longer than the red one, but
it’s worth it!
Anyway, it’s up to you how do you get to Nakhodka.
By the way, be very careful on the green road at its
crossing with Partizanskaya river – the bridge is metal
and gets very slippery at the wet weather. Obviously
it was not a biker who built this bridge! ?
If you get to Vladivostok, look for this address right
away: 117 Snegovaya Street, “Custom Club MS” (it’s a
territory of 6th kilometer) – you are welcome here for
a few days to rest. No charge, for free that is ?
Information for those who are not on wheels:
Take a bus to Nakhodka city, than find your way to Zolotary
bay by hitch hiking or a cab.
Don’t forget to bring your camping tent!
And a can or two of your best
domestic beer… ?
